A two-month cruise circling Australia has been cancelled following the death of an older female passenger who was left behind by the cruise liner on a isolated island.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a break. The ship departed without her and came back after some time after the personnel realised the passenger was unaccounted for.

An extensive search operation discovered her person the following day.

Officials are looking into the tragedy, together with police and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer stated that passengers and staff on the vessel were told that the rest of the cruise had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the individuals via private aircraft".

Officials also released an revised statement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Master" banning any new passengers from getting on the ship.

The liner originally sailed from Cairns on October 24th, and was merely two days into the voyage at the time of the 80-year-old's passing. Lizard Island was the first stop on the voyage.

The child of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "stunned and distressed that the liner left Lizard Island after an organised outing without my mum".

In her statement, she characterized her mum as an "vigorous elderly person" who was a participant of a bushwalking organization.

"According to scant facts we have been provided, it seems that there was a breakdown of care and common sense," she mentioned.

She further stated that she desired the examination would be able to determine what "the organization should have performed that might have preserved Her existence".

"According to reports from the authorities that it was a very hot day, and mum took sick on the hill climb," she explained.

"They requested her to return, without accompaniment. Then the ship sailed away, apparently without performing a headcount.

Through an announcement, the CEO verified that the organization was "collaborating extensively with authorities to assist their examination".

The liner caters for up to a hundred twenty passengers with 46 crew, according to official data. It was specially constructed to access isolated locations of Australia's coast and is equipped with "tenders" - small boats used to ferry travelers on land visits.
