The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for delighting in chaos and mayhem with equal excitement, all while presenting engaging, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' format by featuring a different backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady trust and backing.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a interpretation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of people through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and introduce our common bold, daring style to the audience.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
